How much of your ad budget cannot be traced to a booking?

A missing pixel is not a technical detail. It is the difference between spend you can defend and spend you can only hope about. This reads the tracking installed on your homepage right now, applies it to the budget you actually run, and gives you the figure in your own currency.

How this is calculated

The scan fetches your homepage and looks for a Meta pixel, a Google Ads conversion tag, GA4 and Google Tag Manager. Meta spend counts as unattributable when no pixel is found. Google spend counts as unattributable when neither a conversion tag nor a live GA4 property is found. Nothing is estimated: the figure is your own stated budget multiplied by a signal that either is or is not on the page.

What this deliberately does not do

It does not guess your channel split, apply an industry conversion rate, or claim a return you would have earned. Those numbers would be invented, and a made-up figure attached to a real measurement is worse than no figure. It also reads only the homepage, so tracking that fires exclusively on inner pages or inside a third-party booking engine will not be seen.

Questions

Is unattributable spend the same as wasted spend?
No, and the distinction matters. Untracked ads can still produce bookings. What you lose is the ability to know which ones did, which means you cannot cut the campaigns that failed or fund the ones that worked. Over time that converges on waste, because the budget stops moving toward what performs, but the money is not gone on day one.
My booking engine is on a different domain. Does that change the answer?
It usually makes it worse than this scan shows. If the pixel sits on your marketing site but not on the booking engine, the conversion happens somewhere the pixel cannot see it. This tool reads the homepage only, so it cannot detect that gap. If your booking flow leaves your domain, assume attribution is weaker than the number here.
Why does a Universal Analytics tag not count?
Universal Analytics stopped processing data. The tag still loads, still appears in the page source, and still looks like analytics to anyone checking casually. It collects nothing. A site with only a UA tag is an unmeasured site that looks measured, which is the more dangerous state of the two.
We use an agency. Would they not have set this up?
Frequently not, and it is worth checking rather than assuming. In the measured sample, more than a quarter of the properties actively spending on Google Ads had no analytics installed at all. An agency reporting on its own campaign performance does not necessarily need your site instrumented to produce a report.

Attribution is the first thing Hostli installs

Before a single campaign runs, Hostli wires the pixel, the conversion events and the revenue passback, so the spend that follows can be judged rather than defended.
