Hostli vs doing it yourself
Doing it yourself looks free until you count the evenings, the boosted posts that reached nobody, and the guest who messaged on Instagram and booked elsewhere by morning. Hostli does the building, the pacing and the drafting from your own data, and leaves you the one job that should stay yours: tapping approve.

Cost
How you pay
Hostli: Free to start on your own data; $100 a month flat on Deluxe; a success fee only on direct bookings we can show you on the managed plans.
Yourself: Your time, at whatever your hour is worth, plus the ad spend that went out unpaced.
Learning curve
Hostli: None required. No Ads Manager training, no campaign structure to learn.
Yourself: Ads Manager, pixels, audiences, budgets and creative specs, learned by trial and error on your own money.
Speed
A campaign per segment
Hostli: Couples, families, business and international guests each get their own copy, creatives and audience, in minutes.
Yourself: One boosted post for everyone, when there is time.
Replying to guests
Hostli: Messages and reviews arrive drafted from verified facts; you read, edit, send.
Yourself: Answered between check-ins, or the next day.
Control
What can go wrong
Hostli: Nothing publishes without your approval, spend is held within a band, and copy is grounded in facts you confirmed.
Yourself: A typo in a live ad, a budget left running through a sold-out weekend, a promise the property cannot keep.
Brand consistency
Hostli: Your fonts, colours and photography on every creative, checked before you see it.
Yourself: Whatever the template offered that day.
Proof
Knowing what worked
Hostli: Bookings reconciled across Meta, Google and your site, split by campaign and persona, in a weekly digest.
Yourself: Platform dashboards that each claim the same booking, read when there is time.
Coverage
Competitor rates
Hostli: Weekly scans of the properties you compete with, with the gaps flagged.
Yourself: Checking their sites by hand, occasionally.
Search and AI visibility
Hostli: Audits of what Google and AI assistants say about your property, with fixes to hand to whoever runs your site.
Yourself: Unknown until a guest mentions it.
When doing it yourself is the right call
Some properties are small enough, or personal enough, that the owner’s voice is the product.
A handful of rooms where the owner answers every message personally and wants to keep it that way. The Free plan still helps you see your own data.
A property with no ad budget at all and no plans to add one. Hostli’s paid plans assume you want campaigns to run.
A hotelier who genuinely enjoys the marketing and has the evenings to give it.
What Hostli costs
Start free on your own data, no card required. Deluxe is $100 a month flat with no success fee. Superior and Signature add a person accountable for your bookings, with a success fee of 2% to 2.2% charged only on direct bookings we can show you: tagged clicks, campaigns that started the visit, and the organic social channel Hostli runs for you. Each reservation counts once.
Questions hoteliers ask at this point
Can I really manage everything from my phone?
A decision that takes a minute on your phone instead of an evening at a laptop is the hour you get back every week. Approving creatives, changing the daily budget, pausing a campaign and reading what the ads returned all happen in your mobile browser. A new campaign arrives as a notification, you see who it targets, and one tap sends it live.
How is this different from boosting posts on Facebook?
A boosted post spends the same money on everyone and cannot tell you which booking it produced. Hostli builds a separate campaign per guest segment with its own creative, copy and targeting, pauses the weak ones and moves budget to the winners. The spend goes to the people who book, not to the whole feed.
How does Hostli decide what to spend each day?
The goal is a month's budget that lasts the month and buys bookings, not clicks. A few times a day Hostli asks what each campaign returned and what each booking cost. A campaign that pays for itself gets more of the day's budget while it is working; one that slips below your target, or where a booking starts costing more than it is worth, is slowed or stopped. Nobody on your team has to touch it.
Preferred sources are shown more often in Top Stories, and can carry a preferred badge in AI Overviews and AI Mode.
